When OCIT
was
established in 1964, the library first opened for service.
The library contains book stacks, a periodical area, a reference
book area, a circulation desk, a reference service desk, a
multi-media area, and copy rooms. The library also offers seminar
rooms for meetings and instruction, areas for group study, and
reading tables and study carrels for individual use. Computers are
available for online information searches. Educational and
recreational Audio-visual materials are available for use in
specially equipped rooms.
The library supports the University's teaching and research in
foreign languages, engineering, business, and management. The
library is much more than a repository for the accumulated knowledge
of our civilization; it serves as the heart of our educational
institution.

Books:
The library collection has 157,927 volumes; 113,460 volumes
are in Chinese and 24,467volumes are in foreign languages.
Periodicals:
The library subscribes to more than 500 current journals,
including 284 in Chinese and 224 in foreign languages.
There are also 11 newspapers in Chinese and 1 in English.
Databases:
Library patrons can access 39 reference databases, including
full-text electronic databases and an Internet reference
database in the digital library collection. Users across
campus can log onto the library database systems via the
Internet to search for information and either download or
print out the results from their personal computer.
Audio-Video
materials:
The library holds over 4578 audio-video sources.
All multi-media resources may be used on site, and faculty
and staff may borrow up to 5 items for a 7-day loan period.
Reference
Services & Interlibrary Loan System
1. Nationwide Document Delivery Service (NDDS): Through the
interlibrary loan system, NDDS, readers can borrow or obtain
copies of materials from libraries across the country.
Document delivery from international libraries is also
available.
2. OCIT Library
is a member of Taichung Area Technology College Library
Consortium, which includes Chaoyang University of
Technology, Chienkuo Technology University, and Hungkuang
University. Faculty and students may use the interlibrary
loan service or borrow materials from the other libraries
personally. |
